THANKSGIVING 2008

This Thanksgiving was rather special in that I was invited to a lovely dinner party in Wolfville -at the home of Pam Ackerman (Nance's mother) where fourteen guests were treated to a turkey dinner plus wonderful desserts - four different pies made by a friend. I enjoyed filling my plate while in-line with the other guests but had to deny myself a dessert ! oh! the agony of being pre-diabetic ! but I managed to survive !

After dinner the guests decided they wanted to sing so I sat at the piano and played several 'old songs' from the well- known Reader's Digest volume while everyone raised their voices and even tried some harmonies ! Pam has a very beautiful and welcoming home and obviously enjoys having family and friends on occasion !

Today , I had a very nice dinner with sister Sally , at her home. Obviously I have been well-feted this season ! and am very grateful to those who included me in their holiday 'cheer'.

Have no plans for the rest of the week - but I'm sure something will 'come up'- maybe a bus trip to Halifax ! WHATEVER !!!!! D.

UPDATE

Last evening Sally , Donna , Mary and I were invited to Billie Wilson's . WHO IS BILLIE WILSON ? A person from our past- a local man whose father started Wilson's Drugstore- we watched a couple shows on Billie's huge screen - one , a film Billie and Sandra made on a trip to Los Angeles and New Orleans - interesting!

It was a nice evening- remembering some of 'the old days'- Sally and I baby-sat Billie when we were teen-agers !

Enough for now- Nance is here and Coco will be here later - maybe for the night ! thank goodness we bought that chesterfield back in the 70's - I think it has probably seen some 'action' over the years - maybe resulting in a grand-child or two ! really ! Diane !

This evening

Looking forward to this evening . My sisters , Sally, Donna and Mary and I have been invited to spend some time with Bill and Sandra Wilson . When I was a teen-ager I baby-sat Billie (as he was known then) - we lived across the street from his home . One of the pleasures of being in that lovely residence was having a nice piano to play !
Bill Sr. worked as the pharmacist at the local drug store . He was a jovial , kind man and his character is evident in Bill Jr . - he always has a ready smile !

Tuesday's pleasant trip to and from the South Shore keeps coming up in my mind! I LOVE going there and suspect there will be some future visits ! We live in such a beautiful province yet we take it's beauty for-granted most of the time! my next desire is a trip to New Glasgow and Antigonish! if I still had a car AND a driver's license I would be on the road this week-end !One of my favorite restaurants is in Antigonish -GABRIEUS- and there is also a very nice Art Gallery -LYGHTESOME- where one can see and/or purchase various kinds of art , including photography , oils , water-colors, etchings .
